Half of Americans believe that the Donald Trump Administration has been worse than expected, while disapproval of his administration has risen to 61%.

According to a survey by Pew Research Center quoted by EFE, the approval rating of the President of the United States has dropped to 37%, the lowest level since the beginning of his second term in January 2025.

Only one in five respondents, or 21%, believed that their government has performed better than expected, and 27% expressed support for all or most of its policies.

The drop in support primarily comes from Republicans: 56% say they back most of Trump's plans, compared to 67% last year.

The trust of Republican supporters has also declined. Only 42% believe the president will act ethically, compared to 55% in 2025, and 52% trust him to respect democratic norms.

In terms of his mental capacity, the support dropped to 66%.

In the general population, 51% claim not to trust the leader's leadership ability, and half are doubtful about his physical health.

Sixty-one percent of Republicans believe that their congress members are not obligated to support Trump if they disagree, while eighty-two percent of Democrats urge their representatives to confront him, even if it complicates legislative management.

The survey was conducted from January 20 to 26 among 8,512 adults, with a margin of error of 1.4% and a confidence level of 95%.

The poll was released shortly after Trump launched his campaign for the midterm elections in November in Iowa, amid the controversy over the recent shooting of two protesters in Minneapolis.
