The President of the United States, Donald Trump, revealed on social media this Tuesday the design for the future ballroom of the White House, a project he described as “the largest of its kind ever built” and that will replace the current east wing of the presidential building.
In his profile on Truth Social, Trump explained that the new White House Ballroom will replace the "very small, deteriorated, and often reconstructed" East Wing with a new space called the New East Wing, which will feature a "magnificent" ballroom fully integrated into the historic architecture of the presidential residence.
"It will be the largest and most beautiful ballroom ever built. This space will serve our country for centuries," wrote the president, who accompanied his post with an image of the project's design.
According to the details provided, the new building will match the height and scale of the rest of the historic complex and will be located facing the Department of the Treasury, across the street. Trump emphasized that the idea of a ballroom in the White House had been requested "by presidents for more than 150 years."
The president also highlighted that the northern wall of the new space will be a replica of the northern facade of the White House, an architectural detail that, he stated, maintains the harmony and balance of the ensemble.
Trump stated that the project "is fully in line with the history and greatness of the White House" and indicated that it will be "a space for service, unity, and national pride."
In October, the White House announced the partial demolition of the East Wing to make way for the construction of the presidential ballroom, a project valued at 250 million dollars that, according to President Donald Trump, would not involve “a single cent of taxpayer money.”
