The performance of Bad Bunny as the headliner of the halftime show at Super Bowl LX has generated significant international anticipation, as it is one of the most-watched music and entertainment events of the year, taking place this Sunday at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California.

Bad Bunny, a global star of reggaeton and Latin trap, has been officially confirmed as the headliner for the halftime show, a role that will make history as one of the few Latin artists to lead this segment and the first solo artist who primarily sings in Spanish on this stage.

The anticipation is not only due to the magnitude of the event —which will be broadcast in the United States by NBC, Peacock, Telemundo, and NFL+— but also to Bad Bunny's professional moment, as he arrives after winning the Grammy for Album of the Year with his work Debí Tirar Más Fotos and is shaping up to be one of the most influential artists in today's music world.

Entertainment and culture media emphasize that their participation will be one of the most talked-about halftime shows in Super Bowl history, with a potential audience of hundreds of millions of viewers worldwide.

The halftime is expected to last around 13 minutes, a typical duration for this presentation, and although Bad Bunny has avoided giving many specific details, he has described the performance as "a big party" where he will aim to bring elements of his culture and roots to the stage.

A promotional trailer already circulated by Apple Music provides a preview with festive images and an invitation to dance, but for sure, no one knows who the "Bad Bunny" will take to his guacharaca.

In the video, Bad Bunny approaches a flamboyant tree and plays his song “Baile Inolvidable,” a direct nod to the aesthetics and symbols associated with Puerto Rico, which have also been present in his recent artistic narrative.

The Super Bowl halftime show is expected to start around 8:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. (Eastern Time) in the United States.

Miami is becoming the epicenter of celebrations to watch the Super Bowl with friends, family, or fellow football fans. Most venues will open their doors before the game starts, featuring giant screens, food and drink specials, and various atmospheres to suit all tastes.

Among the most notable establishments are:

  • Cervecería La Tropical (Wynwood) – A brewery with a relaxed atmosphere, cold beers, food combos, and extensive game coverage.
  • Batch Gastropub Miami (Brickell) – A classic bar with multiple screens, food, drinks, and a social atmosphere to follow every play.
  • Copper 29 (Coral Gables) – A sports bar with a lively atmosphere, bucket beers, and wings included with certain promotions.
  • Dom’s (Brickell) – Watch party with projector, bar games, and beer specials from early on.
  • The Dead Flamingo (Little Havana): Event with complementary musical atmosphere and giant screen.
  • Meet Dalia (Miami Beach): Located on Ocean Drive, Miami Beach, it offers cocktails and a variety of options.

Amid controversies and comments from Trump

The announcement of Bad Bunny as the star of the show has not been without controversy. Some conservative critics have questioned whether a Spanish-speaking artist is suitable for a spectacle with such a large national audience.

The controversy has also been fueled by Bad Bunny's history of publicly criticizing U.S. immigration policies, particularly actions taken by the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). His stance has placed him at the center of a broader cultural and political debate in a country polarized on these issues.

Conservative sectors reacted strongly to his election, arguing that his actions represent a message that does not align with their values.

This even prompted the conservative group Turning Point USA to organize an alternative "All-American Halftime Show" featuring artists like Kid Rock at the same halftime moment, a form of counter-programming due to ideological differences.

Former President Donald Trump has been one of the most visible critics of Bad Bunny's show. He described Bad Bunny's selection as "absolutely ridiculous" and stated that he didn't understand why the NFL made that choice, expressing his disapproval of the artist being the headliner for the halftime show.

In recent statements, he announced that he would not attend the Super Bowl and that he would prefer to watch the alternative show.
