The U.S. Secretary of Energy, Christopher Wright, conveyed a message from President Donald Trump to the people of Venezuela in Caracas, in which he stated that his administration is committed to transforming the relationship between the two countries and fostering trade, peace, prosperity, employment, and opportunities.

During his intervention, Wright stated that Trump is “passionately committed to absolutely transforming the relationship between the United States and Venezuela,” as part of a broader agenda to strengthen ties on the continent and bring the two nations closer together.

The official stated that it is not just about words or ambitions, but about specific plans and concrete actions already underway to foster a new phase of cooperation.

Wright arrived in Venezuela this Wednesday on what is deemed a historic visit, becoming the highest-ranking U.S. official to visit the country since the capture of Nicolás Maduro on January 3rd.

In the context of his agenda, the secretary was received at the Palacio de Miraflores by the acting president, Delcy Rodríguez.

According to reports, both parties held discussions regarding an energy agenda, while the United States embassy indicated that the meeting is part of the Trump administration's three-phase plan: stabilization, recovery and reconciliation, and transition.

The visit marks a new chapter in the bilateral relationship amid the process of political and energy changes taking place in Venezuela.
