The Cuban Christian David Espinosa denounced that the official program "Con Filo" exposed him on national television along with other believers, which he described as an evident manipulation to associate them with external political stances.
Espinosa reported on that the television program featured a clip from a video by content creators who are not Christians, followed by an image of a post from journalist Yoe Suárez about evangelical youths who have spoken critically about the regime.
According to his explanation, the program attempted to connect those creators with evangelicals, which he regarded as a crude manipulation.
The young man stated that he found it striking that he was associated with the debate over the embargo, when —he claimed— he had been experiencing internet connection problems at home for more than a week due to ETECSA's service.
After the broadcast, he claimed to have received numerous messages informing him that he had been mentioned on the show, some offering support and others serving as warnings.
Espinosa stated that recently he has increased his activism on social media, in addition to his usual Christian work, and defended his right to speak out on the reality of the country.
He pointed out that he does not consider it incompatible to preach the gospel and to denounce what he sees as injustices.
In his message, he cited several biblical passages to refer to persecution and stated that if tougher times come, he will remain steadfast in his faith.
He also warned that censorship or pressure against spaces linked to evangelical communities could increase.
The Christian concluded that he would respond to any attempt at discrediting him with his testimony and his work, convinced that, as he expressed, “you shall know them by their fruits.”
