Michel Torres Corona, known for his role in the propaganda space Con Filo, admitted today that the Revolution is "stuck," while denouncing the double standards and complaining about the blackouts affecting the capital.

In a post on his Facebook profile, Torres expressed his frustration that “this beautiful, sublime historical process we call the Revolution is stalled and seems unable to emerge from the stagnation, frustration, and apathy.”

He also criticized the “new rich” who seem to “earn more and more, with their brand-new cars, their businesses, their houses filled with light amidst total shadows.”

He also struck out against what he referred to as “chic pseudorevolutionaries” and denounced the government's ineffectiveness in reversing the deterioration of everyday life.

“I am bothered by the blackout, and I am bothered that there are those who do not want to see the connection between the liberalization of the Cuban economy and the state's inability to reverse the accelerated deterioration of the material conditions of existence for the people,” he/she wrote.

He also referred to "one who demands sacrifice but does not endure any sacrifice, who invokes examples from our history but is not an example of the present.”

"I am bothered by the dreamers who do not keep their feet on the ground, who live in a parallel universe where there is no poverty, no sadness, and no defeat," he added.

The presenter’s words come at a time of increasing tension in Havana, where after several consecutive days of blackouts and water shortages, dozens of Cubans have taken to the streets to protest.

So far, complaints about power outages have been concentrated in the provinces, but dissatisfaction in the capital is starting to be expressed publicly.

Torres, who uses his television platform to discredit independent media, critical voices, and content creators with his usual official sarcasm, claimed that he does not profit from the suffering of the people and that he will continue to defend the revolutionary project.

However, his admission that the Revolution is "stuck" and his direct complaint about power outages mark a turning point in the official discourse, at least on an individual level.

The statement aligns with that of another regime spokesperson, the singer Israel Rojas, who also acknowledged on social media that “what we are experiencing is of unfathomable seriousness,” while considering that “everyone has the right, the duty, and almost the obligation to express their pain as they experience it”.

Likewise, Carlos and Ele Alfonso, iconic figures of Cuban music and regular representatives of the Nueva Trova and Grupo Síntesis, expressed their frustration on social media, following a Wednesday characterized by constant power outages.

Just a few days earlier, they had pointed out in another post: "What kind of life does a completely dark city propose?... It steals your enthusiasm!".

Recently, Torres lamented on social media that the program Con Filo is being produced “with increasingly fewer resources,” which triggered a wave of comments where internet users criticized the use of public funds in a production deemed by many as “unnecessary,” “biased,” “propagandistic,” “manipulative,” and disconnected from the reality of the Cuban people.
