A person died Friday night after being struck by a Brightline train in the Wynwood neighborhood of Miami, according to authorities and local media.
The accident occurred at the intersection of 1st Avenue and 29th Street in the northeast of the city. According to initial reports, the man was struck by the train while he was in the area of the railroad crossing.
Miami Fire Rescue teams quickly arrived at the scene and began resuscitation efforts following the severe impact. Rescuers worked to stabilize him before urgently transporting him to the Ryder Trauma Center at Jackson Memorial Hospital.
According to a report by Local 10, the victim was 30 years old.
Initially, authorities stated that the man was in extremely critical condition while being treated by emergency teams who were fighting to keep him alive.
However, despite the maneuvers carried out at the scene and during the transport, it was later confirmed that he passed away on the way to the hospital.
The Miami Police Department reported that the lights and arms of the railroad crossing were functioning properly at the time of the accident.
The barriers and warning signals were functioning properly when the impact with the Brightline train occurred.
So far, no further details have been disclosed regarding the specific circumstances surrounding the incident.
