The general director of Health in the municipality of Matanzas, Aymara Rivero Leicea, called on the population to maintain confidence in the healthcare system in a context marked by the fuel shortage crisis affecting Cuba, which has also impacted the health sector.

The message was disseminated by the Municipal Assembly of People's Power in Matanzas through its official profile on Facebook, where a video was shared featuring statements from the official about the current situation and planned actions in the area.

Rivero assured that medical services will continue to be provided in the five health areas of the municipality, including the polyclinics and their extensions in Ceiba Mocha and Guanábana, as well as the clinic in the Armando Mestre neighborhood.

According to the explanation, the goal is to ensure primary care despite existing limitations, a statement that is faltering amid the severe crisis the country is experiencing.

The directive, in an optimistic speech, emphasized that the maternal and child program will continue without interruptions and that there are arrangements with provincial hospitals situated in the region to ensure specialized assistance when needed.

He added that there will be a continued individualized assessment of each pregnant woman, including risk identification and monitoring of vulnerable pregnant and breastfeeding women.

In his intervention, he also stated that the health sector in Matanzas remains attentive to the directives of the Communist Party and expressed confidence in the system's ability to sustain what he described as one of the main achievements of the Revolution.

The statements come amid a complex national situation characterized by prolonged blackouts, fuel shortages, lack of medication, and deficiencies in medical supplies, factors that have generated additional tensions in hospitals and polyclinics across the country.

Although the official did not provide specific figures or concrete measures to address the resource deficit, she emphasized that healthcare personnel will maintain their dedication and prioritize patient care.
