Cuban Heidy Díaz Sosa firmly responded to several critical comments she received on TikTok after announcing her pregnancy at the age of 42. In a video recorded from Houston, where she has lived for the past three years, she questioned the lack of empathy from those who have judged her for her age.

"It is no secret that I am pregnant. I am 42 years old and will turn 43 this April," she stated. She explained that she decided to speak out after receiving at least three offensive comments, some from fake profiles, questioning her decision to have a child at this stage of her life.

Among the messages mentioned, several suggested that "older women come to give birth in other countries" or that "at that age you're not meant to have children, you're meant to take care of them."

The Cuban woman acknowledged that pregnancy after 40 can involve greater medical risks, but she made it clear that she feels strong and capable. “I know my age, but I don’t consider myself a decrepit old woman who can’t handle my own soul. I see myself as strong and I am strong enough to care for this child, and for three more like this one if they come,” she asserted.

She also emphasized that neither she nor her baby will depend on others. “No one is going to support me. My husband and I are the ones taking on our responsibility,” she stressed.

In her message, she particularly criticized the attitude of other women who, she said, focus on making negative comments on social media. “Why do people interfere in things that don’t concern them? They should get a life of their own and let people live,” she expressed, visibly upset.

The future mother assured that she does not use filters to appear younger and reiterated that her pregnancy is a personal choice. Finally, she sent a message of support to other women who may face similar criticism for deciding to become mothers after the age of 40.
