The young activist Kamil Zayas Pérez, a member of the independent project El4tico, managed to communicate from the Criminal Instruction headquarters in Holguín, where he is being held for political reasons, to send a message to his supporters and to those who have accompanied his case.

The note was shared on Facebook by Paula Amador Lobón, who explained that Kamil asked her to make his message public, in which he stated, “Pride and admiration fall short to describe what he awakens,” and also assured that the young man “is not alone” and that the judicial process against him and his companion Ernesto Ricardo Medina is “another example of how dissenting thoughts are repressed in Cuba.”

"What started as a humble little room, they have turned into a huge house. It has been worth it. Don't give up. Let's now build a village, a just and good one. We are counting on you. Long live Dignified Cuba," Kamil wrote in his message.

Kamil and Ernesto, creators of El4tico, were arrested on February 6 in Holguín during a police operation that included a search of their home and the confiscation of electronic equipment used to produce critical content about the Cuban reality.

Both remain in provisional detention at the center known as "Everyone Sings," while family members and activists report that they are facing a politically motivated trial.

This message is known when more than two weeks have passed since the arrest. Ernesto's wife, Doris Santiesteban, has publicly shared the impact that his imprisonment has had on their family, especially on their three-year-old daughter, who —as she recounted— constantly asks about her father.

The case has generated reactions both inside and outside of Cuba. The hashtag #TodosSomosEl4tico is circulating on social media, while organizations and public figures are denouncing what they consider a pattern of repression against critical voices on the Island.

From prison, Kamil's message emphasizes perseverance and the building of "a just and good people," reaffirming the stance of the project that was born, as he himself recalls, in "a humble little room" transformed into a space for analysis and advocacy.
