The Vice President of the United States, JD Vance, said on Wednesday that the U.S. government is monitoring a situation that occurred in Cuba, but emphasized that they do not yet have enough details.

“Certainly, it is a situation we are monitoring; hopefully, it is not as serious as we fear. But I cannot say more, because I simply do not know any more,” he stated when asked about the matter.

Vance explained that he had been informed by Secretary of State Marco Rubio and that, for the time being, he could not provide any further details.

“She informed me about 15 minutes ago, but we don't know many details, so I will ask the White House to provide us with more information as we receive it,” she noted.

The vice president's statements came after he was questioned about what happened this Wednesday in Cuba, where four people were killed in an armed confrontation with border guard troops.

In his remarks, Vance insisted that he did not have any additional information available at the time of his response and referred to a future communication from the White House as more details about the situation became known.
