Agents from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) visited a residence in Miami Lakes linked to the alleged incident reported by Cuban authorities between the island's armed forces and a U.S. vessel, reported Telemundo 51.
According to preliminary information cited by the media, the address of that house appears in the property records of the boat that the Ministry of the Interior (MININT) identified as being involved in the incident.
According to the information released by the Government of Cuba, it was a "speedboat" registered in Florida with the number FL7726SH.
The report consulted does not provide further details on the outcome of the FBI visit, such as whether there were interviews, seizures, or arrests, nor does it offer an additional account from U.S. authorities regarding the case.
The note is limited to indicating the presence of agents at the residence and the connection of that address with the records of the vessel mentioned by MININT.
The vessel involved in the armed confrontation that took place this Wednesday in Cuban waters was part of a private flotilla organized to evacuate families from the island, according to information published by The New York Times.
According to that outlet, a U.S. official stated that a civilian vessel registered in the United States was involved in the shooting, as part of a flotilla aimed at taking relatives out of Cuba.
The incident, initially reported by the Ministry of Interior of Cuba, left a preliminary toll of four people dead and several injured following a gunfight with Border Guard troops near Cayo Falcones in Villa Clara province.
So far, the identities of the victims have not been officially disclosed.
