Almost a year after her disappearance, the face of Doraiky Águila Vázquez continues to circulate on social media as her mother relentlessly searches for her. This week, a new appeal has once again shaken those following the case.
User Dunia Delgado shared on Facebook about a recent encounter with Doraiky's mother in Havana.
"I just found myself here at the summit, San Miguel, with the mother of Doraiky, the girl who has been missing for 11 months now," he revealed.
The message describes the emotional exhaustion of a woman who has not given up on her search: "The lady no longer has tears to cry for her lost daughter, she has asked half the world about her, and no one has seen her; she doesn’t show up."
Dunia explained that the mother asked her for help in keeping the case visible.
"He earnestly asked me to share this with you so that it can continue to receive views and help her. Please, don't just give like to this post; also share it and comment in as many groups as you can. Let's help her family find her," concludes the post.
The plea summarizes 11 months of anguish and uncertainty for Doraiky's family, who has been missing since March in the Diez de Octubre municipality of Havana.
A disappearance that has shocked since March
In December, her mother, Maura Vázquez, made a desperate appeal to find her daughter, missing since March 15 in the Lawton area.
In multiple posts, she urged the public to "look everywhere" - streets, farms, and cities - because "any detail is important."
In one of his messages, he wrote: "Daughter of my heart, we are looking for you and we will find you… your family and an entire community are searching for you."
She also insisted that if anyone had her, they should return her: "We don't judge, we love Doraiky," and added that her daughter needs to come back "humanely" to her home and be with her family to "recover her health."
In November, Maura went to the National Sanctuary of San Lázaro, in El Rincón. With a picture of her daughter pinned to her chest, she had just one plea: that a miracle would happen and Doraiky would return alive.
The image was shared on social media as a symbol of a mother who has not given up.
Physical data and circumstances
Doraiky Águila Vázquez, 48 years old, walked out of her house on the night of March 15. Since then, there has been no news of her whereabouts.
Some publications suggest that he may have left in the morning that day, around 10:00 a.m.
According to the description released by the family and independent platforms, he has gray hair, olive skin, and large caramel-colored eyes. He is 1.68 meters tall, weighs approximately 65 kilograms, and has a mark on his right ankle as a distinctive feature.
At the time of her disappearance, she was wearing a long yellow dress with red or pink flowers on the bottom and black and red sandals.
She was last seen on 10 de Octubre Boulevard.
The family reported the case to the Police, under registration number 19434.
Vulnerability and alert activated
According to the information shared, Doraiky is suffering from transient memory loss and has been prescribed clonazepam. Her condition increases the urgency of locating her. Based on citizen reports, it is indicated that she may have experienced an episode that caused her to forget the address of her home.
In September, it was noted that she may be a victim of a kidnapping by deception. Her vulnerable situation, combined with her undocumented status, heightens the fear that someone could hold her under false pretenses.
The independent platforms Alas Tensas (OGAT) and Yo Sí Te Creo en Cuba (YSTCC) activated the Yeniset Alert for cases of missing women, disseminating their physical descriptions and clothing details to aid in the search.
A call that doesn't stop
Family members and activists have called for strengthening the community search, asking neighbors to verify if the person is not in their neighborhoods in order to widen the scope of the citizen investigation.
Anyone with information can contact their relatives at the numbers 54236523 (Gustavo), 76994590 (landline), 52423766, 59696001, 53179408, and 76902129, or report it to the police.
Meanwhile, Dunia's message brings the case back into circulation: a mother who, eleven months later, continues to ask, continues to walk, continues to search.
