Cuban-American Congresswoman María Elvira Salazar backed President Donald Trump's recent statements on Cuba and asserted that the regime is going through a pivotal moment.
"Your time is up," he warned this Friday in a message posted on his X account.
The reaction comes after Trump stated that the United States could initiate a "friendly takeover" of the island and pointed out that the Cuban government is facing a critical situation.
Salazar stated that for decades the regime has "tortured dissidents, imprisoned pastors, beaten peaceful protesters, and stolen the future of generations of Cuban children."
He added that if today he faces difficulties, it is not for political reasons, but because "tyranny always collapses under the weight of its own cruelty."
The legislator also expressed gratitude that the pressure exerted by Trump is "accelerating that day of reckoning."
In his message, he sent a direct warning to Havana: "Read the writing on the wall. Your time is up."
The statements add to the growing political tension following the recent remarks by the U.S. president regarding the future of Cuba and the role Washington would play in that process.
