Members of the Cuban exile community in Miami reacted with skepticism to the version provided by the government of Havana regarding the armed confrontation that left four dead and several injured aboard a vessel registered in Florida.

According to a report by Local 10, doubts have emerged in the Little Havana neighborhood regarding the motives and credibility of the statement issued by Cuban authorities, who attributed the shooting to an exchange of gunfire after the boat entered territorial waters.

On the popular Calle Ocho, in front of La Ventanita at the Versailles restaurant, several residents expressed distrust towards any information coming from the regime.

Gus García, one of the interviewees, stated that the Cuban government does not allow freedom of the press or independent public opinion, which is why he believes that their statements should be questioned.

Through its embassy in the United States, the Cuban government reported that four people died and six were injured during the incident that occurred in waters near the province of Villa Clara.

The Miami-Dade County tax collector, Dariel Fernández, issued a statement in which he questioned the veracity of what he described as an "alleged official statement" and characterized it as a propaganda narrative from a regime lacking credibility.

Fernández noted that the version provided by Havana has not been verified or confirmed by independent sources.

The mayor of Miami-Dade, Daniella Levine Cava, agreed on the need for transparency.

In a statement published on the social media platform X, he indicated that his administration is closely monitoring what happened and has called for a thorough and immediate assessment of the incident, as well as complete transparency regarding the facts and accountability.

The case continues to generate reactions in South Florida, where the Cuban-American community closely monitors any additional information that may clarify what happened in Cuban waters.

In this regard, Cuban-American Congresswoman María Elvira Salazar demanded this Wednesday that U.S. authorities urgently clarify what happened following the armed confrontation reported in Cuban waters, which resulted in four deaths and several injuries aboard a vessel registered in Florida.

In a public statement, Salazar confirmed that he is closely monitoring reports indicating that forces from the Cuban regime opened fire on a fast boat registered in Florida.

On his part, Republican Congressman Carlos A. Giménez called for an immediate investigation following reports of an armed confrontation in Cuban waters that resulted in four deaths on a vessel registered in Florida.

Giménez urged U.S. authorities to urgently determine whether any of the victims were citizens or legal residents of the United States and to fully clarify the events that took place near the province of Villa Clara.
