The President of the United States, Donald Trump, affirmed that the military operation "Epic Fury" against the Iranian regime is progressing faster than expected amid a military escalation that has transformed the political landscape in the Middle East.

According to the agency EFE, the president stated in interviews with U.S. media that the joint campaign with Israel is progressing "ahead of schedule," just one day after the start of the bombings that resulted in the death of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who led the Islamic Republic since 1989.

Trump stated that the operation exceeds the pace initially projected by the Pentagon and argued that events are unfolding more quickly than expected.

The president made these statements in a conversation with the CBC network and the magazine The Atlantic, where he also indicated that he would be willing to negotiate with the new leadership that emerged after the death of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

The leader remarked that Tehran "waited too long" to reach an agreement in the nuclear negotiations and reiterated that some of the leaders who were previously engaged in dialogue are no longer alive.

In a new message posted on his Truth Social account, Trump reported that U.S. forces destroyed and sank nine Iranian naval vessels, some of which were large and of strategic importance.

He added that other units are being pursued and that "they will soon be at the bottom of the sea" as well.

He also stated that in a separate attack, the naval headquarters was extensively destroyed.

According to the Central Command of the United States Armed Forces, three American soldiers died and five others were seriously injured during the operation.

Joint bombings with Israel began on Saturday and have continued with new waves targeting strategic objectives.

Iran has promised retaliations following the death of Jamenei and has launched attacks against several countries allied with Washington in the region where the United States maintains military bases.

Meanwhile, the authorities of the Islamic Republic are seeking to establish a transition mechanism and have appointed a triumvirate to lead the succession process.

The offensive occurs despite Washington and Tehran maintaining contacts for a potential new nuclear agreement.

Internally, Democratic sectors have questioned why Congress was not informed in advance about the attack, given that the Constitution grants the legislative branch the authority to authorize military interventions abroad.

From his residence in Mar-a-Lago, Florida, Trump continues to oversee operations and defend his strategy, which he has reiterated aims to decisively weaken the Iranian regime.
