Neighbors from Ceballos, in Ciego de Ávila, took to the streets on Monday night to protest against the deep crisis that Cuba is experiencing, marked by prolonged blackouts, food shortages, and a sustained decline in living conditions.

In a video circulated on social media, several dozen residents from the town of Avileño can be seen participating in a pot-banging protest, shouting slogans in the middle of the street at night, while hitting pots and other utensils in a display of dissent.

The day of discontent was not limited to that territory.

In parallel, in the Havana neighborhood of Miramar, several residents took to the streets for a nighttime casserole protest, as another display of citizen discontent amidst the economic and energy crisis affecting the island.

Also this Monday, but in the morning, students from the University of Havana staged a peaceful sit-in on the steps of that center, in an action expressing their discontent with the situation the country is facing.

In the past four days, spontaneous protests and demonstrations have been reported in various areas of Havana, driven by prolonged blackouts, shortages of basic goods, and the decline of transportation, services, and the population's purchasing power.

However, the discomfort experienced throughout the country manifested itself in Ceballos, highlighting the widespread frustration within civil society.
