Authorities in the municipality of Artemisa have initiated the regulated distribution and sale of eggs to the population through the stores, at a price of 1,500 pesos for a carton of 30 units per household, as part of the measures to address food shortages, a "solution" from the regime to the precarious nutrition of the population.
According to the government newspaper El Artemiseño, the sale is conducted through the supply booklet and is intended for the nine popular councils of the municipality.
Olga Lidia López Moreno, Director of Merchandise Sales at the Municipal Commerce Branch, explained that each household will be able to purchase a full carton of eggs or, if preferred, buy a smaller quantity.
In that case, the units will be sold for 50 pesos per egg, according to information provided by local authorities.
The official also noted that the distribution depends on the production volumes in the poultry farms and the availability of fuel and equipment from the National Poultry Combine (CAN) to transport the product to the warehouses.
On average, he stated, around 50,000 eggs are distributed daily in the territory.
López Moreno also specified that the sales are conducted directly at the warehouses by personnel from CAN, while the workers from the retail sector and the messaging network are responsible for informing the public to facilitate purchases.
The authorities added that marketing is initially regulated through the supply booklet and that, after 72 hours, any unsold eggs will be sold freely.
