The Cuban authorities removed a complete billboard in Santiago de Cuba after an anti-government poster appeared painted on it, according to reports circulated on social media.

According to journalist Yosmany Mayeta Labrada, the incident occurred near the University of Oriente, where a message was painted in the early morning hours with the phrases "Get out communism" and "Down with the dictatorship" on a public billboard.

According to testimonies from neighbors, officials and police officers arrived at the site in the morning to try to remove the graffiti, but after several attempts, they were unable to completely erase the message.

Due to the inability to remove the painting without making the content visible, the authorities would have decided to dismantle the entire structure of the billboard and take it away from the site.

Witnesses indicated that the operation caught the attention of students and residents in the area, who observed as workers and police dismantled the structure while security was maintained around the surroundings.

The incident occurs amidst long power outages and increasing social unrest in Santiago de Cuba, where in recent months there have been more frequent reports of protest messages painted in public spaces as a way to express discontent with the government.
