A Cuban father, identified as Ángel Luis Zamora Gómez, publicly reported that his son was hospitalized in intensive care after consuming allegedly contaminated sweets purchased at a candy store in the city of Las Tunas.
The complaint was published on Facebook from the profile EliAngel Zamora, which pointed to the candy store El Caramelón, located on Frank País Avenue, next to the BANDEC bank near the stadium.
According to the testimony, the child Ángel Jesús had to be hospitalized on March 7, 2026, and was admitted to the intensive care unit after ingesting the products.
"My son Ángel Jesús was admitted to the intensive care unit because of that contaminated junk they sold," the father wrote in the post.
The man also stated that he went to the establishment several times to report what happened, but he claimed that those responsible for the location have not reached out to inquire about the child's well-being.
"I went three times to discuss my child's case, and those people haven't been able to go or call to inquire about the child's condition," she reported.
According to what was explained, the child is currently in the intermediate care unit and his condition has been gradually improving.
The publication also includes images of the intensive care unit where the minor was hospitalized, as well as photographs of the candies that allegedly caused the poisoning and the products that were sold at the establishment.
In the comments section of the report, several people shared similar experiences or called for the authorities to investigate what happened.
Yunior Bermúdez Velázquez wrote: "On one occasion, I bought some candy at that same candy store, and when I got home, I had to throw them away; they tasted bad and were already in poor condition. Fortunately, no one consumed them. That's a danger, especially for a child."
For his part, Willian Figueredo Ramírez questioned the lack of health controls and called for a response from the authorities. “Where is the action from the Hygiene and Epidemiology authorities and those from the People's Inspection Directorate? Wishing your child a speedy recovery,” he remarked.
