The Cuban singer Leoni Torres made strong criticisms against the Cuban regime and expressed his support for YouTuber Anna Sofía Benítez Silvente, known on social media as Anna Bensi, in a message posted on his Instagram account.

In the post, the artist questioned the priorities of the regime while the country is going through a deep economic and social crisis.

"The inept Cuban government has millions of problems to solve so that its people can have the basics. But for them, it is more important to pursue and intimidate those who do not want to think like they do," wrote Torres.

The interpreter also denounced the repression against those who express opinions different from the official narrative and drew the attention of the international community to the situation on the island.

"This is what the world needs to see. This is what the world must know," the musician stated in his message.

Torres also lashed out at the country's political system.

"Communism is only good for this and for bringing misery to its people while those at the top live like true capitalists," he added.

The singer concluded his post with a message of support for Anna Bensi, whom he described as an example.

"You are an example for us all," he wrote, addressing the activist directly.

The artist's statement adds to the voices of figures from the exile community and civil society who denounce political repression in Cuba and the challenges faced by the population amid the ongoing economic crisis in the country.

Anna Bensi reported that agents linked to State Security came to her home to deliver a police summons addressed to her mother, Caridad Silvente, an incident that was recorded on video.

According to the images shared by the young woman, a plainclothes police officer in flip-flops arrived at the house, along with another man who did not identify himself and stayed facing away from the camera throughout the entire exchange.

During the conversation, the agent explained that the summons had been ordered by State Security and that she was to report the next day at two in the afternoon at a police unit.
