The Cuban comedian and activist Limay Blanco lamented the economic situation in the country and criticized the abuses in the prices of basic goods amid the deep crisis the island is facing.
In a video posted on social media, the artist stated that many Cubans are taking advantage of the scarcity to sell essential goods at prices that are unaffordable for the majority of the population.
"We are killing ourselves. We are our own enemies," Blanco stated when referring to the current situation.
The comedian reported that a liter of gasoline can sell for up to 3,500 pesos in the informal market and that, in some cases, people end up being victims of scams when they try to buy fuel.
He also criticized the high prices of medications and other basic products, which have become unattainable for many Cubans amid the crisis.
According to him, even simple foods have reached disproportionate prices. “A small can of rice costs 250 pesos, and a small canister of gas can go up to 20,000 pesos,” he noted.
"The politicians are quite calm while the people are at each other's throats," commented the comedian, who assured that despite the crisis, he will continue his work in helping those in need through his charitable project.
The artist has been the driving force behind several humanitarian projects supporting needy mothers and the elderly for many years.
