A Cuban in Florida went viral on TikTok after sharing what he claims has been “the biggest mistake of my life”: buying a house in Lehigh Acres. The video was posted by the user @maikelr28, who showcased his neighborhood while discussing the real estate situation in the area.
In the clip, the man explains that he moved there just two years ago and since then he has seen many houses in the area go up for sale.
“I moved here two years ago and they are selling all those houses”, he comments while recording several homes around him.
According to him, one of the problems is the drop in prices. "My house cost me 315, and now it's worth 270," he says in the video, referring to the value that, he claims, similar properties in the neighborhood currently have.
The video quickly sparked reactions among other TikTok users. Some agreed with the sentiment and pointed out that the issue in that area is the lack of employment. "There are no job opportunities, many new houses and little commerce," one person wrote in the comments. Another added, "If there are no job opportunities, it's all for nothing."
Other users took the topic with humor or made jokes about the situation. "I'm going to keep waiting before I buy... I'll buy when they're at 80," someone commented with laughter.
There were also those who defended the area or said that the real estate market tends to fluctuate. “It will rise again soon,” commented one user, while another replied, “That’s not the first time that’s happened there.”
Even someone appeared claiming to live in the same place and disagreeing with the video. “The one on the far left I just finished and I'm not selling it; I just rented it out,” commented another user on the post.
