Residents of the municipality of Morón, in the province of Ciego de Ávila, reported at the end of the night on Friday alleged gunfire and a fire near the local headquarters of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC), amid an intentional internet service outage.
The complaint was spread on social media by journalists Guillermo Rodríguez and José Raúl Gallego, who reported that access to the internet in Morón was interrupted while reports of incidents were circulating near the municipal headquarters of the PCC.

“Internet was knocked out in Morón. The last information received, with great difficulty, was that there is a fire near the PCC and sounds that could be gunshots,” Gallego wrote on his Facebook account.
According to the journalist, the disruption of the connection would be hindering the acquisition of real-time information about what is happening in the municipality and would limit the ability to report any potential repressive actions.
According to reports from several residents, gunfire was heard in the area near the local PCC headquarters, while some neighbors from a distance managed to capture images of a fire in the vicinity of the building.
Other users commented that there was at least one young person injured, although there is no confirmation regarding this.
So far, there is no official communication regarding the events or the origin of the fire or the alleged gunshots.
Reports come in the midst of a day of protests in Morón, where residents took to the streets to protest against the prolonged blackouts, food shortages, and the deterioration of living conditions in the country.
In several videos shared on social media, chants of "Freedom!" and sounds of banging pots and pans can be heard during nighttime marches through various streets of the municipality.
