A young man was injured by gunfire during the protests that took place on Friday night in the municipality of Morón, in Ciego de Ávila, where the local headquarters of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC) was also reported to be on fire, along with confrontations with security forces.
The reports were shared on social media by independent journalist José Raúl Gallego, who informed through his Facebook profile that a police officer allegedly shot at a young man who was near a campfire in front of the municipal headquarters of the PCC.

According to the report, the shot hit the boy in the thigh while he was in the vicinity of the building during the protests taking place in the city.
In another message posted minutes earlier, Gallego pointed out that the local headquarters of the PCC had been set on fire amid the protests.
It was also indicated that several bicycles used by police officers may have been burned.
The reports also state that special forces deployed in the area allegedly released dogs against the protesters to disperse the demonstration.
According to the journalist, among the participants in the demonstration were children and teenagers.
So far, there has been no official communication regarding the events or the condition of the injured young man.
The incidents occurred amid a day of protests in Morón, where residents took to the streets to express their opposition to the prolonged blackouts, food shortages, and the deterioration of living conditions in the country.
In videos shared on social media, chants of "Freedom!" and the sound of pots and pans can be heard as groups of people stroll through the streets at night.
