The Cuban opposition member José Daniel Ferrer reported that the young man injured during the protests that took place in Morón, Ciego de Ávila, on March 13, is recovering and is being sheltered by close individuals while the police are searching for him in the province.

Through a post on the social network X, Ferrer stated that the young man is progressing favorably, although he refrained from revealing his identity or showing images for safety reasons.

"The young man injured in Morón is recovering satisfactorily. The political police are searching for him throughout the province of Ciego de Ávila. I cannot provide his details or share images for his security," wrote the opposition leader.

In a video shared on social media, Ferrer explained that the injured individual is 19 years old and was shot in one of his legs during the disturbances that occurred in the city of Avila.

The opposition figure also clarified that incorrect information about the young man's identity was initially circulated.

"There is a mistake. It was said that the injured person is a 17-year-old who is indeed in custody. Kevin Samuel was not the injured person. The injured individual is 19 years old," he explained.

According to Ferrer, people close to the young man are keeping him safe while regime agents try to locate him.

"The police are looking for him, but close associates, trusted individuals, are taking care of him and protecting him," he stated, noting that he received the information from contacts in the city of Morón.

The recent protests in that municipality of Ciego de Ávila were marked by banging pots, slogans of "Freedom," and expressions of discontent over prolonged blackouts, food shortages, and the economic crisis facing the country.

According to videos circulated on social media, during the clashes in front of the local headquarters of the Communist Party, a young man was injured after gunshots were heard, raising concern among residents and activists.

Ferrer also reported that a severe crackdown was unleashed against those who participated in the protest.

“People in the city are very concerned about what happened that night and the brutal repression that the tyranny unleashed against those who participated in that civic demonstration,” he stated.

The opposition figure argued that many of the protesters were young people who took to the streets to demand changes amid the decline in living conditions in Cuba.

"Young people, above all, who took to the streets to demand freedom for the entire Cuban people," he concluded.
