A pre-university teacher in Morón, Ciego de Ávila, defended the Cuban political system to her students and rejected the characterization of the country as a dictatorship, in a recorded intervention shared on Instagram by the profile @un_martitodurako8_live_oficial.

The teacher from the Roberto Rodríguez Urban Pre-University Institute stated, "I wish everyone, especially in the world, had these... conditions that we have today," referring to the living conditions in Cuba.

The teacher spoke visibly upset when referring to the demonstrations that unfolded in Morón and questioned those who, in her words, took part in actions against establishments and spaces in the country.

In his remarks, he mentioned "attacks" on a pharmacy and stores, and criticized the lack of concern for “their children” and the country. “So they're going to throw things at the country. And why are they here? That is the question we all have,” he expressed.

The teacher also argued that there would be external motivations behind those events.

"Well funded, well paid," she said, before insisting that they would adhere to "what needs to be said" and that she herself intended to address the topic later.

She also stated that she was particularly outraged "because they are young." In the midst of her speech, she urged the students to pay attention and suggested that it was important to first understand "what a state fundamentally is."

Shortly thereafter, he explicitly rejected the idea that there is a dictatorship in Cuba.

"Remember well that this is not a dictatorship," he said. "If this were a dictatorship..." he added, before cutting off the sentence and linking it to a defense of the Cuban socialist system.

The teacher defined the current model on the Island as "a socialism" and acknowledged the existence of "all the difficulties, all the mistakes."

However, in that very passage, he formulated the central phrase of the statement: "I wish that everyone, especially in the world, had these... conditions that we have today. Despite all the situations we face."

The teacher also made it clear that she disapproved of "everything that happened today," referring to the protests that erupted in Morón against the Cuban regime.

The video of the teacher began to circulate shortly after dozens of Cubans took to the streets of Morón on Friday night to protest against prolonged power outages, food shortages, and the deterioration of living conditions.

Videos shared on social media show groups of neighbors marching through various streets of the municipality while chanting slogans of “Freedom!” and participating in pot-banging demonstrations.

The protests in Morón are part of other recent demonstrations of discontent in various locations across the country, where citizens have taken to the streets to demand an end to blackouts and improvements in their living conditions.
