Sandro Castro, grandson of Fidel Castro, has stirred controversy on social media again after posting a message that many interpreted as an indirect reference to the recent protests in Morón, Ciego de Ávila.

"I am looking for a rooster to drink tequila, but the rooster got away. Good for him," he said in a video shared on his Instagram stories. The phrase, rich in double meaning, circulated widely on social media amid the growing popular discontent on the island.

The comment coincides with the international dissemination of the protests that occurred in Morón, where residents took to the streets early Saturday morning to protest against power outages, food shortages, and the decline in living conditions.

During the incidents, damage was reported at the municipal headquarters of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC), as well as destruction in a pharmacy and a state-run store.

Cuban authorities confirmed that some protesters threw stones at the PCC building and set fire to reception furniture. At least five people were arrested.

In parallel, Sandro also mentioned the Cuban influencer Samantha Hernández, who has received a lot of criticism on social media following a video in which she explained why she avoids discussing politics or publicly commenting on the situation in Cuba.

Sandro stated that he does not want to talk about his "Samantistic experiences," hinting at a romance with the content creator, but he is actually referring to Samantha Espineira, with whom he has a public controversy.

"I almost found out that I was going to be a dad," he said referring to Espineira, who recently announced her pregnancy.

Samantha Espineira has categorically denied Sandro's statements regarding an alleged romance between them, but he insists that “everything was true,” further fueling the controversy.
