A Cuban father who has to cook with charcoal on a rooftop to feed his son launched harsh criticisms against the ruler Miguel Díaz-Canel and Prime Minister Manuel Marrero amid the prolonged blackouts affecting the country.
The message, shared on by the user Yoel Parsons Bones, is accompanied by images of a family cooking with firewood on the rooftop of a building, a scene that is increasingly common in Cuba due to the lack of electricity.
"Where do you cook, Mr. Canel, and you, Mr. Marrero?" questions the internet user, contrasting the reality of the citizens with that of the leaders.
The father reported that while the government asks for resistance in the face of the crisis, the conditions of the people are very different from those in power, forcing many families to improvise in order to feed themselves.
On Tuesday night, the same family posted a video of how they were cooking on the rooftop with firewood to feed their young son.
In his post, the Cuban also expressed a strong rejection of the official discourse and stated that the government has lost citizen support.
"They do not have a people," he stated, while criticizing the use of repressive forces against those who protest and the lack of spaces to express dissent.
The report adds to other testimonies that have circulated on social media in recent days, where families are shown cooking with charcoal or firewood due to prolonged power outages.
These scenes reflect the impact of the energy crisis, which affects the daily lives of millions of Cubans, making food preservation and meal preparation more difficult.
