Miami has become the city with the highest number of immigration arrests under the policy implemented by the Donald Trump Administration, according to recent data released this Friday.
According to the figures, the city in south Florida tops the list with over 41,000 arrests, surpassing other major urban areas such as Dallas, New Orleans, Houston, and Atlanta, which also rank among the leading jurisdictions with the highest immigration enforcement activity, cited Telemundo.
Miami is considered one of the main cities for migrants in the United States, both due to its history and its current demographic composition; therefore, the operations there have faced significant scrutiny.
The data is striking, as several of the cities included in the list do not necessarily correspond with those where mass raids were widely reported in the media.
For many, this suggests that the detentions have been more effective and supported by authorities in states governed by Republicans (Florida, Texas, Louisiana, and Georgia). Democratic strongholds like Chicago, California, Minnesota, and New York have shown greater resistance to ICE and its policies.
The figures, reaching up to 1,100 arrests per day, reflect the extent of the immigration policies implemented during the Trump Administration, which focused on increasing arrests and intensifying operations in various regions of the country.
