A Cuban resident in Italy and connected to groups supporting the regime criticized those who call for the closure of hotels in Cuba, asserting that such positions reflect a lack of commitment to the island's population.

This is Ada Galano, president of the National Coordinator of Cubans Residing in Italy (CONACI), who made the statements in a video broadcast from Havana, where she is participating in activities of the solidarity convoy "Nuestra América."

In his video, Galano directly questioned those who advocate for the end of tourism in Cuba and defended the operation of hotels amid the crisis.

"You who ask for the hotels to be closed... what you don't have is love for your people," he stated.

The activist stated that hotel facilities continue to operate despite the difficulties and assured that they allow for the reception of visitors and the generation of income in the country.

In that context, he rejected the criticism directed at those who participate in support initiatives from abroad.

He also emphasized that the members of the convoy cover their own expenses during their stay on the island and defended their presence as a way to contribute economically amid the challenges.

The statements come in the context of a severe economic decline in Cuba, where large segments of the population are facing food shortages, prolonged blackouts, and limitations on basic services, while the tourism sector continues to be prioritized by the government.

Galano also stirred controversy with other statements. In the same video shared on social media, she claimed that she would be willing to die in defense of the country if an attack occurred.

If the bombs were to come and I had to die here in my homeland, death would be welcome”, she expressed.

Additionally, during an official meeting with Miguel Díaz-Canel, she requested that access to rifles be provided to defend the system, in a clear show of support for the regime from sectors of the emigration aligned with the Government.
