Sandro Castro, grandson of Fidel Castro, revealed in an exclusive interview with CNN that he was summoned by the Cuban State Security due to his satirical videos and criticisms of the system.

According to Castro himself, he was released with a warning and denied that his surname influenced the outcome. He stated that the authorities did not take more severe measures because, in his view, he has never incited violence or a change of regime.

The interview was conducted during one of the frequent blackouts affecting the island, in his apartment located in the exclusive Havana neighborhood of Kohly, a residential area where military personnel and officials linked to intelligence services reside.

Among the content that has boosted his popularity on social media, a video stands out in which he simulates a call with Secretary of State Marco Rubio, presenting himself as a political interlocutor, as well as another in which he appears “in love” with a gas canister, in reference to the energy crisis. He also generated buzz with a sketch in which a Donald Trump impersonator arrives at his door with the intention of “buying Cuba”.

In the report published by CNN, Castro also denied that his surname grants him advantages within the system. “My name is my name. I am proud of it, of course. But I do not see that assistance you are talking about. I am just another citizen,” he stated.
