The dollar awakens in the Cuban informal market!
After being anchored at 515 CUP per unit for 13 days, this Friday the US dollar shows a slight price increase.
At dawn on this April 3rd, the US dollar is trading at an average of 517 CUP per dollar, according to data from the independent media elTOQUE.
The figure represents an increase of two pesos in relation to the value that the US dollar had consistently maintained since March 21.
Exchange Rate Evolution
This Thursday, elTOQUE reported that by 2026, the peso has depreciated by 158 CUP against the dollar (44.3%). A year ago, on April 3, 2025, the dollar was valued at 357 CUP.
Regarding the euro, this Friday marks another day without changes. It has now been 14 days with the European currency valued at 580 CUP.
The restless Freely Convertible Currency (MLC), on its part, continues its dance of values and is on the rise today.
The digital monetary abomination that the Cuban regime has operated since 2019, has once again risen to 400 CUP today.
