Rapper Tekashi 6ix9ine was released from the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn on Wednesday with a souvenir that nobody could have imagined: a SpongeBob SquarePants doll signed by Nicolás Maduro, the former Venezuelan dictator who shares the same prison.
"Oh, by the way, look... Maduro signed it, April 2, Venezuela forever", the rapper declared in front of the cameras as he exited the venue, showcasing the peculiar plush toy.
The video of the release went viral immediately on social media, generating all kinds of reactions among its followers and the public opinion.
The simultaneous presence of both characters in the same prison, turned the Brooklyn correctional facility into the most talked-about prison in recent times. Tekashi 6ix9ine had entered the facility after being arrested on charges of possession of ecstasy and cocaine, firearm possession, among other accusations.
Maduro, for his part, was captured by U.S. special forces last January and transferred to New York to face federal charges. The former Venezuelan leader pleaded not guilty in his first court appearance before a federal court in the city.
