The Cuban actress Heydy González posted an emotional message on her Facebook account this Sunday to bid farewell to the actor Jorge Losada, who passed away in Havana at the age of 92 after a long battle with health issues.

Today the sky welcomes a great one… but I say farewell to someone even more special: my friend…and to grandpa Losy for my Gali," González wrote at the beginning of his post, revealing the depth of a bond that transcended the professional.

In her message, the actress described Losada with words full of affection: "Jorge Losada, my dear old man… today you rest in peace after a long battle that you fought with admirable strength. Life gave me not only the privilege of knowing you as an actor but also loving you as a human being… one of a kind."

González, who has been living in Miami since 2022 with her partner, the singer Eddy Borges, and their daughter Galilea, acknowledged the geographical distance that separated her from the veteran actor, but emphasized that it never broke the bond between them: "Despite the distance, I have always been with you... and we both know that. Because true affection does not understand kilometers, and the commitment of the heart never fails."

In her post, the actress known for her character Hidroelia in the Cuban comedy shows Vivir del Cuento, Punto G, and A otro con ese cuento also highlighted the impact that Losada left on those who knew him: "You were intelligence, you were tenderness, you were sincere companionship. A soul that embraces without touching, that teaches without imposing, that leaves a mark without making a sound."

With words of gratitude, González concluded his farewell: "I will hold onto your smile, your stories, your unique way of being in life… and above all, the honor of having been a part of yours. Today is not a goodbye… it is an eternal thank you. Rest in peace, my dear old man. I carry you with me… always."

The passing of Losada was announced by his friend and colleague Luis Lacosta, art director of the Cuban Institute of Cinematographic Art and Industry (ICAIC), who accompanied him for more than 65 years of friendship: "I am at a loss for words to express everything I wish to say; my friend, my older brother has departed after being together for more than 65 years. He will always be among us."

Losada was an iconic figure in Cuban television, theater, film, and radio, with a career that began in the 1950s at Radio Mambí and extended until 2023, when he participated in the soap opera Renacer to celebrate his 90th birthday. He was a member of the Rita Montaner theater group and the Musical Theater of Havana, appeared in films such as Soy Cuba and Maluala, and received the Best Actor Award from UNEAC in 1987 for the play El Caballero de Pogolotti.

However, his final years were marked by institutional neglect. Just three weeks before his death, on March 15, 2026, Lacosta made an urgent appeal for help: "there is no food to give him, there is no transport to take him to the doctor, we have no more money left, we have many needs."

His case became a symbol of the neglect faced by veteran Cuban artists, individuals whom the State celebrates in official speeches but who confront old age under extremely precarious conditions, relying on community solidarity to cover basic needs.
