Miami police have issued an urgent appeal to the community to identify a six-year-old boy who was found alone and in concerning conditions on Wednesday night in the Allapattah neighborhood.
The minor was found around 11:00 p.m. at the intersection of Northwest 7th Avenue and 17th Street, wandering without an adult companion. According to authorities, the child—who might be named Lucas or Legacy—was completely alone when he was spotted by a citizen who chose to alert the police.
"It was a good Samaritan who called us; the child was sleeping on the street and he alerted us. We don't know what would have happened if he had stayed there," explained Miami police officer Mike Vega, describing the gravity of the situation. According to official information, the minor has a speech delay, which has made it difficult for officers to obtain key information about his identity, family, or place of residence. This condition has complicated efforts to quickly clarify the case.
So far, the authorities have been unable to locate his parents or legal guardians. Additionally, they have indicated that there have been no reports of a missing child in the area that match his characteristics, which increases the uncertainty surrounding his situation.
The police distributed a flyer featuring the image of the minor in the hope that a family member or someone close may recognize him and provide information that could help return him to his family environment.
The child is currently in the custody of the Florida Department of Children and Families, where he remains protected while the investigations continue.
Authorities insist on the urgency of the case and are requesting public cooperation to clarify the identity of the minor and locate those responsible. Anyone with relevant information can contact the Special Victims Unit of the Miami Police Department at 305-603-6300.
The case has raised concern among the residents of the area, not only due to the circumstances in which the child was found, but also because of the lack of prior reports that could explain how he ended up alone on the street late at night. Meanwhile, the police are keeping all lines of investigation open.
