The Cuban pitcher Yariel Rodríguez delivered an outstanding performance this Wednesday with the Buffalo Bisons in the Triple-A category, achieving six strikeouts in 2.1 innings pitched with only one run allowed.

The journalist Francys Romero highlighted the performance of the Cuban: "Yariel Rodríguez had a great outing this Wednesday in Triple-A with Buffalo Bisons. Rodríguez was , after failing to secure a spot on the main roster of the Toronto Blue Jays during Spring Training 2026.

The situation of the pitcher with the Canadian organization is complex. In December 2025, Toronto removed him from the 40-man roster despite having recorded an ERA of 3.08 with 66 strikeouts in 73.0 innings during the regular season of Major League Baseball.

Throughout his career in Major League Baseball between 2024 and 2025, Rodríguez accumulated a record of 4-10, an ERA of 3.83, and 87 appearances —including 22 starts—, 159.2 innings pitched and 151 strikeouts.

The Cuban, 29 years old, defected from the island in February 2022 via Mexico and signed a four-year contract worth 12 million dollars with the Blue Jays in December 2023.

Before his arrival in the United States, Rodríguez was a prominent figure in the Cuban National Series with Holguín, where he posted a 2.99 ERA with 127 strikeouts in 98 innings during the 2020-21 season and won the Pitcher of the Year award.

In January 2026, the Blue Jays granted him , where he participated from the bullpen.

Rodríguez still has three years remaining on his contract with Toronto, which makes every appearance in Triple-A an opportunity to push for his return to the Major Leagues.
