The Cuban influencer Vuélvete Pillo Cañón broke months of silence by posting a story on Instagram from Cuba, confirming that he was deported after being detained by the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and ending his message with an anti-Castro shout: "Down with the dictatorship and long live free Cuba."

The content creator, known on social media by the username @vuelvete.pillo.canon_, had disappeared from digital platforms for several months, which generated increasing concern among his followers. On April 12, several images began to circulate on Instagram and TikTok showing the influencer in Cuba, thus confirming that he had been deported to Cuba after being in ICE custody.

In his reappearance, Pillo Cañón explained the reason for his absence: "I hadn't been active on social media because my accounts were blocked."

The influencer expressed gratitude for the support received during that time: "First of all, a thousand thanks to everyone who cared about me and for their positive comments. I took the time to read them all; there are more people who love me than those who hate me."

He also announced that for now he is prioritizing family reunification: "For now, I am dedicating time to my family, whom I haven't seen in a while... I'll shine later!!!"

His tone was one of resilience and positivity: "I don't let anything stop me, I stay positive, there's no bad that doesn't bring some good, that's why I'm always active."

At the end of the story, he signed from what he called "el calentón", a Cuban colloquial expression that refers to Cuba as a place of tension and difficulty, before delivering his political message.

The reappearance generated an immediate response on social media. A video posted that same day on his Instagram account racked up over 88,000 views, more than 17,000 likes, and 520 comments in just a few hours, with followers expressing relief, support, and admiration for his attitude.

The arrest of Pillo Cañón reportedly occurred when he attended a routine immigration appointment. Official details about the specific reasons for his arrest have not been disclosed.

His case is similar to that of other Cuban content creators affected by the immigration policy of the Trump administration. The influencer La Cintumbare was deported in February 2025, and El Chulo was arrested by ICE in January 2026 and ended up in Mexico in March of that year.

The reappearance of Pillo Cañón from Cuba, with his message of resistance and his clear political stance, reignites the debate about the human impact of deportations on Cubans who had built a life and an audience in United States.
