A Cuban boy living in Galicia, Spain, became a little star on social media after posting his first reel on Instagram, mixing Spanish and Galician to introduce himself and challenge his followers in a heartwarming way.
Víctor Fabián, who identifies on his profile as "a little Cuban very Galician," posted a 33-second video on April 7 that captivated thousands of people online with his charisma and his enthusiasm for becoming an influencer.
In the video, the little boy explains completely naturally that he is learning Galician because he has only been doing it for a short time, referring to his recent arrival in Galicia. He has been living with his parents in the autonomous community for a year and a half.
The child's dream is clear, although he faces a small obstacle at home: "I want to be an influencer, even though my mom doesn't like the idea," he confesses to the camera with a smile.
To convince his mother, Víctor Fabián came up with a challenge that was as simple as it was effective: "He says that if this video gets a thousand likes, he will help me create content," he revealed in the clip.
The response from the digital community far exceeded that goal. The reel garnered over 55,000 views, 8,623 likes, and 377 comments, multiplying more than eight times the target the boy needed to gain his mother's support.
In addition to the challenge, Víctor Fabián took advantage of his debut to ask his followers about the topics he would like to cover on his future channel: "I have three options. Would you like me to talk about animals, dinosaurs, or fun facts?" he asked.
The use of Galician by a Cuban child newly arrived in the region holds special significance for the local community. Galician is the official language of Galicia alongside Spanish, with over 2.5 million speakers in Spain, and its promotion is an institutional priority for the Xunta de Galicia.
The video by Víctor Fabián is part of a growing trend among Cuban emigrants in Galicia who document their adaptation process on social media. The Spanish region has historical ties to Cuba and offers institutional programs such as Retorna Cualifica Emprego to facilitate the return of Galician emigrants and their descendants, including Cubans with roots in the region.
Other Cubans have captured similar viral moments from Galicia. The former taxi driver Magdiel Camejo became well-known last year when he recorded a video from a scaffolding in A Coruña, summarizing his experience with a straightforward phrase: "There is work here, hard work, but there is work".
What distinguishes Víctor Fabián's debut is the combination of tenderness, humor, and authenticity: a child who enthusiastically embraces the language of his new land, who dreams big, and who, with all the transparency in the world, asks his mom for help in achieving that dream. The description he chose for his first reel summarizes it all: "First video on my Instagram, I need support for my mom to help me."
