A video shared on TikTok by user @mileidygonzlez20 moved thousands of Cubans on social media as it captured the moment she broke down in tears upon receiving a gift sent by her daughter from Cuba.

The gift was a personalized blanket with the inscription "For the best mom in the world," but what emotionally broke the mother was the audio recorded by her daughter from Cuba...

In that voice message, the young woman says: "Hi Mom, I know you weren't expecting this, so surprise! I want to congratulate you on the great job you've done as a mother, always present despite the distance, indulging all my whims and putting up with my mischief."

The daughter also reminds her mother of her place in the family: "Never forget how important you are to us; you are the pillar that keeps us standing strong. Because of you, we endure all the challenges this country puts before us, dreaming and hoping to reunite one day."

"Maybe I don't say this to you every day, but I love you more than you can imagine. We will have time to share those moments together and create more unforgettable memories," says the young woman's voice, as her mother cannot hold back her tears.

The blanket also had written: "Just hold this blanket tight, place it close to your heart, and we will never be separated from you."

Upon hearing the audio, the mother couldn't contain her tears and exclaimed, "Thank you, my love, thank you my beautiful girl, how beautiful!"

The video's creator responded to the comments with a phrase that sums up the feelings of thousands: "I have no words, it's a pain that only those who have experienced it understand. May God give me the strength to keep fighting for my daughter."

The comments section was filled with reactions from mothers and users who deeply identified with the scene.

"My God, what a way to cry, how many mothers find themselves in this situation," wrote one user. "Only those who go through it truly know what it feels like. It is very hard, and when a mother hurts, we all hurt," shared another. There were those who cried even though they are not in the same situation: "I have my children with me, but I cried with your video because we are mothers." Voices of daughters separated from their mothers also joined in: "And daughters outside of Cuba crying for their mothers to give them a hug... three years without seeing my family." Another user simply wrote: "I have no words, I am in the same place and my daughter is in Cuba."

This type of video connects in a particularly deep way with the Cuban emigrant community, which has experienced an unprecedented exodus since 2020. More than 1.4 million Cubans left the island between 2020 and 2024, leaving almost every family with at least one member abroad.

The video was published days before Mother's Day, a date that is especially sensitive for separated families, which amplified its emotional impact. Other reunions and similar surprises also went viral on TikTok during this time, solidifying this type of content as a way to narrate the human cost of Cuban migration.

"Only mothers know what it is to receive a message like this," summarized a user in a few words what the video left in those who watched it.
