The informal currency market in Cuba started this Monday with no changes in its main currencies, after the US dollar (USD) broke a record for the third consecutive day in the previous session.

The dollar remains at 560 Cuban pesos (CUP), consolidating the pressure on prices and the purchasing power of the population.

The euro remains the most expensive currency in the informal market and is currently valued at 635 CUP, exactly the same rate recorded yesterday. This is also its record price.

The temporary stability occurs amidst a strong demand for foreign currency and the ongoing economic crisis affecting Cuban families.

Exchange Rate Evolution

For its part, the Freely Convertible Currency (MLC) remains at 400 CUP. Although it did not show any variations in the last few hours, it continues to be a key reference for those who rely on state stores and the purchase of basic products in foreign currency.
