The US dollar surged again this Friday in the informal Cuban market, reaching 572 Cuban pesos (CUP), an increase of four pesos compared to the previous day when it was trading at 568 CUP.

With this new surge, the US dollar breaks records and consolidates the upward trend observed in recent weeks, driven by strong demand for foreign currency and the persistent shortage of supply in the informal market.

The euro, for its part, recorded a slight drop, settling at 640 CUP, five pesos less than on Thursday, when it was exchanged at 645 CUP.

Despite the setback, the euro remains one of the most valued currencies among Cubans seeking to protect their savings against the depreciation of the peso and potential changes in the country.

Exchange Rate Evolution

Meanwhile, the Freely Convertible Currency (MLC) regained ground and reached 420 CUP, ten pesos more than the previous day when it was quoted at 410 CUP.
