Miguel Robaina Domínguez, 56 years old, known by the nickname "Cuba," was arrested last Wednesday night in Palm Springs, Florida, after threatening a couple with a machete behind a gas station in Palm Beach County.

Según el Palm Springs Police Department, un hombre y una mujer que estaban sentados detrás de la gasolinera RaceTrac en Lake Worth Road, poco antes de las 10 de la noche, fueron abordados por Domínguez, quien apareció «de la nada».

The suspect pulled a large machete from his pants and began wielding it just inches from the male victim's face while shouting in Spanish, "Do you want to mess with me?"

Although the victim did not display any cuts, the officers who arrived at the scene observed and photographed a red mark on the back of her neck.

The security camera footage from the gas station confirmed that Domínguez attacked the victim with a machete, according to the police report.

After the incident, Domínguez crossed the street and was located in the parking lot of a Marathon gas station located at 3965 S. Congress Avenue.

The suspect attempted to flee on foot but was quickly apprehended near a garbage container, where officers retrieved a black-handled machete that was lying in the dirt.

Police records revealed that Domínguez had been prohibited from accessing the Marathon Gas property since August 2024, an order in effect for two years that was still active at the time of the arrest.

When questioned, Domínguez denied having participated in any altercation and denied having visited the RaceTrac gas station.

He was arrested on charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon without intent to kill and violation of a no-trespassing order.

Under Florida law, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon is a third-degree felony, punishable by up to five years in prison and a fine of up to $5,000.

Machete incidents in South Florida are not isolated. In May 2025, a man injured two people with a machete in North Miami Beach following a dispute, and days earlier another man attacked a Sedano's employee with a machete in Miami.

In February 2025, a terrifying attempted kidnapping with a machete in Miami was also reported, which reflects a troubling pattern of assaults with this type of weapon in the area.

Palm Springs is a municipality in Palm Beach County with approximately 28,500 residents, of which around 62% are of Hispanic origin.
