Terrifying attempted kidnapping with a machete in Miami

The individual, who had maintained a nine-year relationship with the victim, did not accept the end of the relationship.

This Thursday, a man appeared in the Miami-Dade criminal court who, on February 14th, armed with a machete, attempted to kidnap his ex-partner and attacked the woman's new romantic partner in Little Havana.

The aggressor, identified as Nelson Pérez-Estrada -a Hispanic whose nationality of origin has not been disclosed- unleashed chaos in broad daylight.

Last Friday, Valentine's Day, the attacker waited for the couple in a blue Ford F-150 truck near the 640 block of Northwest Fifth Avenue.

According to the police report -quoted by the local press- when the couple was walking down the mentioned street, the man got out of his vehicle holding a blue bag, from which he pulled out a machete.

The attacker tried to force his ex-girlfriend to get into his truck, dragging her approximately 20 to 30 feet while demanding that she enter his vehicle.

In this situation, the woman's current partner intervened to prevent the kidnapping, triggering a violent struggle with Pérez-Estrada.

During the struggle, the aggressor accidentally threw the machete to the ground, a moment that the companion seized to disarm him and prevent a tragic outcome. However, the attack did not end there.

After the failed kidnapping attempt, Pérez-Estrada returned to his truck and, in a moment of desperation, tried to run over the victims.

According to the police report, the man made multiple U-turns on the same street, repeatedly steering the vehicle towards the couple with the clear intention of injuring or killing them. After several failed attempts, he fled the scene heading east.

The victims suffered minor injuries.

Pérez-Estrada's ex-partner had a scratch on their right forearm and pain in their left ankle, while their current partner sustained a bite mark on their head, cuts on their hand, and bruises on their right forearm.

Pérez-Estrada had been in a nine-year relationship with the woman, but he did not accept the recent breakup that occurred on February 7.

New charges for breaking and entering and arrest

But it didn't end there. Days after the attack, authorities were able to locate Pérez-Estrada, who was arrested after breaking into a home accompanied by an accomplice, in what is believed to have been an attempted robbery or assault.

The charges Nelson Pérez-Estrada is facing are serious and varied: attempted murder; aggravated kidnapping, assault with a deadly weapon; breaking and entering, and violent robbery.
