Oskar Muñiz, 18 years old, son of Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony, revealed his new gender identity and name during his graduation from Windward School in Los Angeles.
The news emerged through a post on the Instagram account of the Windward Institute, which is dedicated to documenting the university destinations of its students, where the young man was identified as "Oskar Muñiz."
Born as Emme Maribel Muñiz on February 22, 2008, Oskar is the twin of Maximilian David (Max), the result of the marriage between the former couple of singers.
The first public reference to their identity dates back to June 2022, when Jennifer Lopez introduced them at a charity concert in Los Angeles using gender-neutral pronouns, equivalent to "elle" in Spanish.
Now, four years later, his own Instagram profile confirms a further step in that evolution: Oskar identifies with the male pronoun "he" and the symbols associated with the transgender community.
According to the institute's publication, the young man plans to study theater and visual arts at Sarah Lawrence College in New York starting in the fall of 2026.
The message accompanying the photo celebrated the admission with excitement: "Oskar to Sarah Lawrence! No more spontaneous trips to New York because he will be living there!"
The graduation ceremony was attended by Jennifer Lopez, her mother Guadalupe Rodríguez, her twin brother Max, and Samuel Affleck, the 14-year-old son of Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner, highlighting the bond maintained between both families despite the divorce of JLo and Ben Affleck, which concluded in January 2025.
The one who was not present was Marc Anthony, Oskar's biological father.
So far, Jennifer Lopez has not made any official public statement confirming her child's name or gender change.
The singer has indeed opened up about her feelings regarding her children's imminent departure to the university world.
"It's as if I can't believe we've made it this far, you know, just the three of us. It's been a journey for all three of us throughout this life because I was a single mother since they were three years old," she declared to Entertainment Tonight.
On the Jimmy Kimmel Live! show, she was more candid about the emotional impact: "Don't talk about it because I'll start crying," she joked, before admitting that she's been "crying for two months" as she prepares for her children to leave the family home.
Meanwhile, Marc Anthony is expecting the birth of his eighth daughter, the second with his wife Nadia Ferreira, who is 30 years younger than him, and the sex was revealed in March of this year.
Oskar and his brother Max, who studied at a different school, will attend different universities this fall, thus ending one chapter and beginning another for the whole family.
