Marc Anthony was not present at his son Oskar Muñiz —formerly known as Emme—'s graduation from the Windward School in Los Angeles, which took place last week, and the singer has not provided any public explanation for his absence.

The ceremony coincided with the public reveal of Oskar's new identity: the 18-year-old, son of Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony, was identified by that name in a post by the Windward School on Instagram, announcing his admission to Sarah Lawrence College in New York to study theater and visual arts starting in the fall of 2026.

Born as Emme Maribel Muñiz on February 22, 2008, Oskar is the twin of Maximilian David (Max).

His personal Instagram profile confirms that he identifies with the masculine pronoun "he" and with symbols of the transgender community, a further step in an evolution that publicly began in June 2022, when Jennifer Lopez introduced him at a charity concert using neutral pronouns.

At the graduation were Jennifer Lopez, her mother Guadalupe Rodríguez, her twin brother Max, and Samuel Affleck, the 14-year-old son of Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner.

Marc Anthony also did not post any congratulatory message on social media.

The absence sparked a flurry of comments divided between those who criticized him and those who defended him.

"Graduations happen once in a lifetime, work is every day," wrote a follower. Another was more straightforward about the possible reason: "It must not be easy for your child to have gone from her to them and from them to him." A third comment pointed out a particular distance with JLo's children: "Dayanara never misses the graduations of her children."

There were those who defended him, arguing that his new family responsibilities could explain his absence: "He loves all his children. The problem is that he is living his life with other people, and those people do not want him to connect with his previous children."

Others simply found no justification: "I live in Pennsylvania and drove to Florida for my daughter's event, a total of 16 hours, no excuses."

Jennifer Lopez has not made any official public statement regarding Oskar's name or gender change, although she has spoken about the excitement she feels about her children starting university.

"It's as if I can't believe we have come this far, you know, just the three of us. It's been a journey for all three of us throughout this life because I was a single mother since they were three years old," she stated to Entertainment Tonight.

In February, JLo congratulated her children on their 18th birthday with a message that said "we have always been the three of us," without mentioning Marc Anthony, which was interpreted as a subtle hint.

Meanwhile, Marc Anthony is expecting the birth of his eighth daughter, the second with his wife Nadia Ferreira, and he has scheduled his residency "Vegas... My Way!" at the Fontainebleau Las Vegas with dates in July and August 2026.
