The spectacular timba dance of this Cuban mother with her son left everyone amazed on social media

A young Cuban-Italian and his mother starred in one of the week's most celebrated videos on TikTok by dancing Cuban timba together on stage at the Alocubano Festival, a European event dedicated solely to Cuban dance.

The clip was published last Sunday by Luis Miguel (@luismiguel_cubache), who simply described the moment: "Dancing Cuban timba with my mom @Giusy Chisari #salsa #timba".

In less than a week, the video accumulated 118,900 views, 7,288 likes, 476 shares, and 188 comments, figures that reflect the immediate impact of the performance among the followers of the Cuban community on social media.

In the images, we see Giusy Chisari —dressed in black, with her arms raised and her hair in motion— and her son, wearing a white t-shirt and sneakers, showcasing a grace and energy that are hard to overlook.

Both live in Italy, and according to the source of the note, "they seem to be professional dancers; at least the mother, and the son has inherited the Cuban ease and flair."

It’s no coincidence: Giusy is a teacher, dancer, and choreographer specializing in Cuban salsa, Afro-Cuban folklore, rumba, and reggaeton. Together with her husband Pedrito, she founded the Cubaché Dance School in Sicily, where the family has been sharing Cuban culture in Europe for years.

The father also joined the celebration: from the Facebook account @pedritoygiusy7, he shared the moment with the message "Our son @luismiguel_cubache with his mom @giusy_cubache at @alocubano_festival."

The performance took place at the Alocubano Festival, which describes itself as "Pure Cuban Dance Festival" and "Only Cuba, from beginning to end," featuring a lineup of timba, rumba, guaguancó, and Afro-Cuban culture in various cities across the continent.

Cuban timba, a genre that emerged in Cuba between the 1970s and 1990s as a fusion of son, salsa, rumba, and Afro-Cuban jazz, is characterized by its high rhythmic complexity, polyrhythms, and a dance-oriented energy that makes it one of the most representative genres of Cuban cultural identity.

The video of Luis Miguel and Giusy fits into a trend that shows no signs of waning: Cubans in the diaspora have been going viral on TikTok for months by sharing their culture through dance. A Cuban father and his daughter dancing reparto in Switzerland surpassed 184,000 views in February, and a 54-year-old Cuban teacher reached over 181,000 views dancing reparto with her students in May.

Also, a Cuban went viral dancing timba in a supermarket in the United States in March, and this video of Cubans dancing in the middle of the street captivated thousands just this week.

The Alocubano Festival is scheduled to take place in Krakow, Poland, from October 2 to October 5, 2026.
