The communicator, producer, fashion and skincare expert, Doreen Gutiérrez D'Cardona, is one of the most active entrepreneurs in the beauty and aesthetic medicine sector in Miami.

In just over a decade, alongside her husband, Dr. Eduardo Cardona, she created a group of companies specializing in cosmetics, aesthetic medicine, medical training, and communication that is now a benchmark for professionals in the beauty sector in South Florida.

Doreen's professional journey began far from the world of business, in the Havana neighborhood of La Ceiba, an area characterized by blackouts, scarcity, and economic uncertainty. However, rather than intimidating her spirit, those experiences strengthened her and ultimately defined her philosophy as a woman, a professional, and a mother.

From the stage to entrepreneurship

Doreen found her first calling in art. As a teenager, she became a professional dancer and in the world of dance, she learned stage presence. It was also in that environment that her interest in makeup and personal image grew.

One of the most important moments of that stage in her career was participating in the film The Lost City (2005), starring Andy García. Doreen played a dancer in a scene inspired by the Tropicana cabaret.

At the age of 17, he emigrated to the Dominican Republic. There, he worked as a model in advertising campaigns and appeared on magazine covers.

However, an unexpected turn forced her to halt projects and redefine her future with new goals. She suffered a severe allergic reaction after using a product from a well-known makeup brand.

The beginning of a new professional stage

Doreen decided to study Journalism and Marketing, but she did not intend to distance herself from the world of beauty. She obtained a certification as a image consultant and began a new professional career.

In the Dominican Republic, Doreen and her husband began to develop their first business projects. They founded the club Laser Luxe and launched the television program Diario de Belleza, broadcasted by Telesistema, which combined content on health, aesthetics, and wellness.

That allergic reaction drove her to create Bana Cosmetics, a brand based on formulas free from parabens and other potentially irritating ingredients, at a time when the concept of clean beauty was not yet an established trend.

The Cuban entrepreneur directed a medical spa for over fifteen years, where she gained firsthand experience of the needs of patients interested in aesthetic treatments and skincare.

Miami, the next stage

In 2017, after consolidating their image in the media and the success of their company in the Dominican Republic, Doreen and Dr. Cardona expanded their operations to Miami, where they laid the foundations for the business group that encompasses their main projects.

Today, Boribana Medical Training (BMT) is a specialized training institute in aesthetic medicine aimed at physicians, dentists, nurse practitioners, and other health professionals.

Doreen and her husband recently celebrated the graduation of over 2,500 professionals trained under the Cardona Method Aesthetic Medicine Program.

On its part, the brand Bana Cosmetics has continued to grow. In 2025, they celebrated ten years of their journey with a renewal of their identity and the launch of Bana Skincare, a medical-grade skincare line designed to meet the needs of mature skin.

Beyond business

Beyond her business activities, Doreen Gutiérrez places a central role on her family. As a mother of two, she often shares reflections on entrepreneurship, education, and personal growth on her social media, topics that are also part of her conferences and the content she creates for her community.

The Cuban entrepreneur often explains that the ability to reinvent oneself has been one of the keys to her career. In her publications, she emphasizes the value of discipline, perseverance, and education as tools to achieve personal and professional goals.

Their journey, from a childhood marked by challenges in Cuba to the development of their projects in the Dominican Republic and Miami, reflects a constant quest for opportunities and adaptability to change.

In one of his most recent videos, he summarized that philosophy: "Most people do not achieve great results because they give up when the excitement ends. Success is built through repetition, even when no one is watching or applauding you."
