The search efforts for Cuban citizens in Venezuela remain active this Saturday, three days after the devastating double earthquake that struck the country on Wednesday, June 24.
According to the monitoring carried out by elToque based on social media and civic platforms, more than 30 Cubans are reported as missing, most of whom are concentrated in the state of La Guaira.
The areas of Caraballeda, Catia La Mar, and Los Corales —where dozens of buildings collapsed— account for the majority of the cases.
The citizen platform Encuéntralos has recorded a total of 77,913 unlocated individuals across the country following the earthquakes of magnitudes 7.2 and 7.5.
Among the most distressing cases are Vanessa Martínez and Dayan Martínez, two Cuban children from Mayabeque who lived with their father—a Cuban doctor who decided to stay in Venezuela after completing a mission—at the Coral Beach building in Los Corales. Their mother resides in Cuba.
