"None of Miami's beaches are any good": A Cuban says this is the only one that resembles Varadero

A Cuban woman in Miami claims that South Pointe Beach is the only beach in the city comparable to Varadero in a video that has surpassed 45,000 views.

A Cuban resident in Miami sparked social media on Sunday by posting a video on TikTok in which she dismisses almost all the beaches in the city and crowns South Pointe Beach as the only one worthy of being compared to Varadero.

"The beaches of Miami are all useless; the only one that truly resembles Varadero a bit is Sao Point," claims the content creator known as RossyCD, while filming the turquoise water of the location from the shore.

In the video, which garnered more than 45,000 views, 1,244 likes, and 590 comments in less than two days, RossyCD leaves no room for debate: "I don’t think anyone who has come to Sao Point can argue with me, not Fort Lauderdale, not Hollywood, none of this part of Miami Beach, none of those beaches are similar."

The reason for the comparison is visual and almost immediate: "This one reminds me the most of Cuba, the one that reminds me most of Varadero. Look how clear that water is now, there's a lot of water, but the sea is divine today, divine."

South Pointe Park is located at the southernmost tip of Miami Beach, at 1 Washington Ave, and spans approximately 6.87 acres with direct access to the Atlantic.

Unlike the rest of Miami Beach, where the waters are typically darker or greenish, South Pointe features a jetty that protects the area, reduces waves, and maintains the water in a Caribbean hue that has led many Latin American visitors to describe it as similar to the Caribbean or turquoise like a tropical postcard.

The reference to Varadero is not coincidental among Cubans in exile.

The famous Cuban beach boasts over 20 kilometers of fine white sand of coral origin and crystal-clear turquoise waters. In 2025, it was ranked among the top 10 beaches in the world by TripAdvisor, making it the benchmark for any Cuban seeking a beach that reminds them of home.

The place also has a historical connection to the Cuban community: in April 2016, a group of Cuban rafters arrived precisely at that beach in South Pointe Park.

The debate about the best beaches in Miami for the Cuban community is a recurring topic on TikTok, where content creators constantly compare their surroundings in Florida with memories of the island under hashtags like #cubanosenmiami.

This video was no exception: the 590 comments reflect an active conversation about what the best option available in the metropolitan area is.

RossyCD, far from closing the topic, invited her followers to expand the map: "If anyone knows of a beach, please let me know, leave it in the comments, recommend it to me, any from the Atlantic, like here in Miami from the northern coast."

The debate, at least in the comments on TikTok, remains open.
